While moving just below the massive stairs on the Eastern end of Jama Masjid facing towards Red Fort you can find the another most visited tourist destination of delhi which is well known as Meena Bazaar. Besides food, you can also find number of shops having cosmetics, embroidered cloths, readymade garments as well. The specialities of the market were quilts, exclusive carpets, pashmina shawls, pardahs, zari and brocade work, ornaments made of precious stones and spices.

Presently known as 'Chhatta Chowk Bazaar' or 'Meena Bazaar' , this bazaar earlier was known as 'Bazaar-i-Musaqqaf' (the market with 'saqaf' means roof) or 'Chhatta-bazaar' (a roofed market).  Lahori-Gate entrance of the Red fort leads into shadows of this ' Covered Market' or 'Vaulted Arcade'. Shah Jahan was perhaps impelled by political reasons to the position Chhatta Bazaar at the principal ceremonial entrance to the fort, as an appropriate place to exhibit the Mughal Empire's growing wealth, talents and capabilities.

In the middle of the Chatta Chowk, there is also an open section for the sunlight and fresh air to enter. From the end of the bazaar, the view of Drum House was picturesque as the large square courtyard and water tank, provided a clear view, unlike later when much was altered with the British occupation. They destroyed the elegance of the monument by building multi-storey barracks north of the courtyard.
